Looking for a huge world to explore? Tired of clumsy pay-for-play games disguised as "pay-for-perks"? Bored of enforced role-playing and looking for a place where you can indulge in wanton slaughter or clever banter with good company? Want a world where you can explore to your heart's content, then become a wizard to create new places? You've come to the right place!

Ancient Anguish is a vast, free, and incredibly engaging MUD that has since 1992 retained a friendly and loyal player base. The world is constantly expanding, adding new challenges, fun new classes, and more ways to pass the time than you can swing a hobbit at. Join us at anguish.org on port 2222!

On Ancient Anguish, a player can choose between fighter, mage, ranger, cleric, shapeshifter, necromancer, paladin, and rogue for their character class. A new class, called Artificers , opened in late June 2006.

So log in and start exploring and look at Jerusulum's List of Things To Do for all the cool activities available to you.

New on Ancient Anguish

  • We got a new forum! It's integrated and logging into the wiki, you're also logged into the forum. Try it out! (registrations are now open)

Want to be an editor?

We are experimenting with open registrations, please be patient with us.

  • All must add and confirm an email address. Addresses are hidden from normal users, and will not be sold or used for spam. You are welcome to use a throwaway address, but then you will not able to reset your password on your own etc.
  • You get more rights by contributing. Right now you need 50 edits and been a member for 3 days to be promoted to Confirmed User. You can read more about the different user rights here, Special:ListGroupRights. A newly registered and unpromoted user have restrictions, among other things will have to pass a special captcha (pretty easy version, you will see what I mean when you register). Again, be patient, we are experimenting.
  • There might be more levels of access to be decided on later.

Mail us at aawiki'at'gmail'dot'com if you you're having problems. We hope that these restrictions won't be too debilitating and that you still want to contribute to our wiki.
