Two weapon

shin00bi's thoughts on Two Weapon
I think I'm a seasonal AA-player. Come summer, I might give it up again. Anywho, I noticed some things about two weapon, as it relates to my character with 15 strength. I'm not sure if this applies to all characters, is strength dependant, or more skill-dependant. Character in question has more than 65 Two Weapon. Seems like if the weapon weighs more than 2 bottles (I.E. it has a weight description of any sort), then I can't hit things quite as well, regardless of my skill. This applies to both hands, too. For instance, if I'm wielding an Orcish Poleaxe in my main hand, and a main gauche in the left hand, I will have a lot of misses with the orcish poleaxe, and end up out-hitting things with the light main gauche. It stands to reason that all of the built-in Two Weapon weapons are light weight for both hands. I tried wielding both colichemarde (3 bottles) and main gauche (1 bottle) in hopes that they'd work exceptionally well together, but they weren't really meant to be dual-wielded, I think. The gauche is obviously a nice secondary for a rogue, and I think it's a pretty decent offhand weapon, but the colichemarde doesn't really work in conjunction with it that well. I think even a thin rapier is better in this instance. So with that said, I've concluded that the net-weight of your two weapons doesn't matter, it's still the weight allotted to each hand. Elemental orbs are the exception, because although they weigh 3 bottles each, they ignore A/C. 3 bottles is also only where the weight-penalty begins to be noticeable so it's not that bad. I should also note, that with a decent amount of Two Weapon, skilling a new skill in the offhand works out pretty well. When you Zhou, it's best to dual-wield, and after that, if you still want to be able to kill decent NPCs, I say go ahead and wield a good weapon in your main hand, and skill with a weaker weapon in your offhand. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. By the way, here's a decent list of weapons for each skill to use with Two Weapons, just off the top of my head (and which I've personally used and know for sure they work well). Also, keep in mind, I don't have any ficer friends anymore, but if you do I'm sure they can give you superior options in most cases, especially knife. In my world though, ficer eq simply doesn't exist. With how rich they are, there is simply no incentive for them to make anything for anyone, and for that matter, once they have scorps, there is also no incentive for them to tank for anyone but I digress. Axe: Butterfly wing-axe, (dwarven mining pick works, but a pair of butterfly-wing-axes is so effective, I wouldn't even bother with axe unless you get a pair of those and can wield them) Club: Stylish canes, well-balanced battlehammer, Onix, Horn of Power Curved Blade: snickersnee, sharpened keen steel scimitar, orcish sabre Exotic: Elemental Orb Flail: Iron Shackles, Nasty looking leather whip Knife: main gauche (Too many to list. All pretty bad. Get a ficer for a trillian knife if possible). Longsword: silver longsword (for right after boot), elven sword (Not to be confused with elven longsword, found in the same area. It is 45+ skill and has a special message/supposed bonus against orcs) Polearm: wooden hoe from orlyn Rapier: thin rapier, vfr, jdr, crystal blade (not sure of offhand str/dex requirements for this unique) Shortsword: butterfly sword, blackened gladius, Mithril Shortsword, wakizashi Spear: savage halfspear Staff: black staff (semi-unique, +1 dex, -1 con; easy to get, the only hard part is finding someone to id), sceptre with a dead bat... (while you're waiting for ID, really) Edit: Updated shortsword and club. Added a few weapons like Shackles and Snickersnees for when you're zhou'ing and pre-30 skill.
