Coat Colours

Bonded ranger wolves will begin to shed their coats about 12 real-time hours after they bond (when the wolf's description says it is the lifelong companion of a ranger). Shedding goes through several stages and colour changes until the wolf finishes shedding, around 6 real-time hours after after shedding begins. These times are not exact. If it has been 6 hours and 10 minutes and your wolf hasn't reached its final colour, don't start telling everyone it must be broken. Just give it some more time.

The final coat will be one of many, many colours, and will be pure or have some markings in another colour. The full colour list is not known. Click on the chart preview for what we currently know about colour progressions.

What you feed it matters! Each stage on the chart represents an opportunity to influence which colour you'll get on the next branching. There is still some randomness, but overall it seems feeding fish (rather than meat) increases your chance of getting a "lighter" colour. (For a strange definition of "lighter". Dirty is lighter than dark, but ivory is lighter than white and sable seems to be darker than black, for example.)

Eye Colours

Eye colours also transition from the beginning of shedding to the end, with one transition in between.

The final eye colour is generally not apparent until sometime after the wolf stops shedding. Final eye colours include: light grey, silver, golden, coppery, emerald green, turquoise, blue, dark blue, indigo, amber, crimson, dark brown, charcoal, glossy black, and probably some others.
